Based on the work and input of a broad spectrum of Canadian organizations, individuals and government agencies, this bilingual document proposes a nationwide approach to tackling the HIV epidemic and underlying health and social issues. It encourages governments at all levels and community based organizations to coordinate their work within a larger plan, and to work more effectively together, pooling their collective knowledge, skills and resources. It proposes activities in 6 areas: increasing awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS and increasing funding commitments; addressing the social factors and inequalities driving the epidemic; stepping up prevention programs; strengthening diagnosis, care, treatment and support services; providing leadership in global efforts; and enhancing the front-line capacity to act early and stay the course.
