Frequently Asked Questions about CATIE's Ordering Centre

How do I order publications?

To browse resources by subject, use the Search function in the top right-hand corner of the Ordering Centre page or use the navigation bar to the left.

All publications that display an "Order" tab can be ordered.

Once you click on the shopping cart icon, a single copy of the selected publication is automatically placed in your cart. To order more copies of the same publication, type the number you require in the box provided.

Once you have finished selecting all the publications you wish to order, click "Checkout" in the bottom right corner of the screen. You will then be taken to the Checkout Personal Info page.

Are there any limits on quantities I can order?

Due to the limited availability of certain items in the Ordering Centre, we are not able to provide all resources in unlimited quantities. In the event that we are unable to provide the quantity you have requested, we may adjust your order.

How much will shipping cost me?

CATIE currently sends items within Canada at no charge using the least expensive form of shipping.

How much will resources cost me?

There is no charge; all resources distributed through the CATIE Ordering Centre are free to Canadian residents.

How quickly will I receive my order?

You should receive your order within 10 business days. Shipments leave CATIE's distribution centre within 2 business days of the placement of your order. The arrival of your order at the address you have provided will depend on the location and carrier selected.

Are the resources in CATIE's Ordering Centre also available electronically?

Most of the resources in CATIE's Ordering Centre are available as PDFs. If your computer is unable to read PDF files, you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

What if I can't find what I'm looking for?

What about my privacy?

All personal information collected through online orders is erased by our distribution centre on a bi-weekly basis.

All items are shipped in a plain brown envelope. There is no indication that the envelope or box has come from CATIE. The only return address printed on the envelope is St. Joseph Communications.

What if I know of a resource that hasn't been included in CATIE's Ordering Centre?

What steps have been taken by CATIE to protect the environment in fulfilling orders placed through the Ordering Centre?

CATIE has engaged the services of St. Joseph Communications for all our distribution services.

In 2005, St. Joseph Communications' Ottawa facility became certified by the Environmental Choice Program - Environment Canada's ecolabelling program. Started by the Government of Canada in 1988, the Environmental Choice Program (ECP) is one of many ecolabelling programs around the world rewarding companies for their environmental leadership. To date, over 3,000 products and services have attained certification through the program.

To qualify for the program, a product or service must be made or offered in a way that improves energy efficiency, reduces hazardous by-products, uses recycled materials, is reusable or provides some other environmental benefit. The ECP provides consumers with a level of assurance that the product bearing the EcoLogo meets stringent environmental criteria, evaluated by a credible third party.

The program is internationally renowned because of the stringent certification process, which includes review of each applicant's product and process information, an examination of the company's assurance/quality control measures, and - where deemed necessary by ECP officials - an audit of the company's facilities for purposes of initial certification.

This certification demonstrates St. Joseph Communications' commitment to environmental responsibility and provides our clients with the reassurance that they are using products and services that do not harm the environment.
